Saving Your Credit Card for Emergencies

I was going through my old magazines in preparation for the big move and found this clip from ReadyMade Magazine:

If you can't tell, they're suggesting that you sew your credit card into a little fabric pouch.  It's a new take on the putting your card on ice idea.  Only, here, to get to your card, you have to physically cut the pretty fabric pouch.  If you have trouble resisting the swipe, this is a great idea!

  2. Cute idea . . . but it would never work for me. I'd be ripping open that baby at least once per day ;)

  3. Lov ethe idea, though I've never had trouble resisting plastic. I live by the mantra: "if you can't afford to pay for it in cash, don't buy it".

  4. haha, well I am usually pretty good at controlling my spending so credit card is okay for me, but ya totally bad for spontaneous buys esp over the internet when you don't even see the transaction going through!

  5. Ha what a cute idea! I don't think I could commit to it though. I pay for everything on my amex and bank card. But at least that means it comes right out of the bank or I have to pay it by the end of the month :) xoxo

  6. What a fun idea. Actually back in the day I remember traveling with kids that had their parents credit cards which were supposed to be used only in an emergency. Love that idea of resisting spending all the time (oops which I just did today...)

  9. This is a great tip. I think it's so important for women, especially young women to be financially savvy. I don't have a credit card and to stop me using my husbands card I say to myself "buying on credit is not chic!" and that does the trick for me :) These days you can get Visa Debit cards which work like credit cards but you're using the money that you have, I love my ANZ Visa Debt card!
