boring.

Since I spend most of my time studying, I've had a hard time coming up with interesting things to say.  Sadly, this isn't just in the blogging world.

So.  Two questions:

1) when you can't think of something to say on your blog, where do you get your inspiration?

2) when you're having a conversation with someone and there's that awkward silence, what do you talk about?

  1. I have been feeling rather uninspired lately. When there is awkward silence I tend to say something that makes it even more awkard. Yep..I am awesome like that.

  2. i start reading stuff for my own enjoyment vs. trying to think of something funny, interesting or clever to say.

During awkward silences...yeah...i usually announce the fact that is awkward...so there is some laughing, and then more awkwardness.

  3. I end up just blurting out random stories when I'm faced with an awkward moment. Luckily for me, my co-workers/friends say I have very good comedic timing, so it doesn't seem too awkward! :)

I'm such a new blogger that I haven't run out of stories yet, but I think that it's helpful to see how people do things like "Wordless Wednesday," "Fact Friday," etc., so that you have a place to jump off from. Also, have you heard of plinky.com? They have prompts that are supposed to help you if you have writer's block. I haven't tried it yet, but that might be useful! :)

  4. Too funny. Unfortunately, I am obsessed with our wedding and since my blog is all wedding related and I just started recaps, I have plenty to say - for at least the next month and a half :)

As far as awkward silence, well, I just try to think of something that's going on in their life to ask them about.

  5. To answer your questions:

#1 - you could do a meme or do what I do and not blog; and

#2 - awkward silences suck. It usually happens to me when exhausted and just want to close my eyes. I have no solution to this problem.

  6. Memes help fill the silence. Also not saying anything is ok.
Asking a question helps fill the silence-What did you do today? What are you doing this weekend? Or relating a funny antidote.

  7. 1 - I just don't write anything - I have been a terrible blogger lately.

2 - I'm with Ruthy Ann - I usually say something stupid and laugh.

P.s. Double dating for our anniversary's - HELL YEAH!!

  8. When I'm hit with an awkward silence I tend to start asking prying questions about one's personal life. My husband says they are "way too personal" but I figure if there are long silences then that means I've got to get to know the person better, right?

When I can't think of anything to blog about I'll blog about a news article or column I've read. Boring, I know, but I think it gets my ideas moving again. Love your blog!

  9. I think a trip down memory lane always breaks the awful blog silence. How about writing about what your favorite childhood summer memories? I personally love reading people's back stories. IF not, you can always take a break from blogging. But I find that when I've done that in the past, returning to regularly posting seems more tedious than ever!

  10. Silence is underestimated, really. It is a big part of communication. Without intervals of silence, most talk is bound to be meaningless or trivial. If you have nothing to say, it's probably best not to force yourself into doing it.

  11. Your blog is great! I am so glad I found it.
alwasy look at fashion or celebrities for inspiration. That usually then leads me to Polyvore where I create an outfit.

  12. Wonderful blog, by the way!

    1) I read (for inspiration and information). Or I take a walk and let my thoughts wander. Eventually I stumble across something to write about - figuratively or literally!

    2) I hate to say it - but awkward silence in conversation is not something that happens with me. The more real problem is that of trying to get ME to shut up!

  13. 1) Sometimes I just remind myself of another blogger's post that I really enjoyed and post along that kind of topic. (With a link, of course!)

    2) I am terrible in awkward situations. I usually try to think of questions to ask the person about themselves, but sometimes it just sounds like I'm interrogating them. "Read any good books lately/Seen any good movies lately" is always a good one.
